Default Leo Meyerson, W0GFQ 100th Birthday

I got the following note from Dick Newsome, WØHXL. I thought it worth
passing on. Many of us "older" hams remember Leo Meyerson, the founder
of World Radio Laboratories (WRL). My first transmitter, nearly 50
years ago, was a WRL Globe Chieftain Deluxe. It put out a mighty 90
watts of CW and AM phone. Thanks, Dick for sending this note:

Leo is also a member of Omaha Chapter 210

Hi Everybody,

On Feb 24th QCWA Chapter 154 in West Palm Springs is celebrating Leo's
100th birthday. For those that don't remember Leo owned and operated
World Radio Laboratories in Council Bluffs, IA for many years.

So here's the plan, take a QSL card, write 'Happy 100th Birthday Leo'
on it and send it to:

Leo Meyerson, W0GFQ
19 Park Lane
Rancho Mirage, CA 92270

Gene Pentecost, President of Chapter 154 will make sure they get to the
party so everyone that attends can enjoy them.

One last thing, tell every ham you know to do the same thing, QCWA
member or not. Spread the word, at every radio club meeting you
attend, at every net you check into.

I want Leo to get hundreds, maybe even thousands of cards.

tnx es 73,
Bob Roske, NØUF
President QCWA

It was Globe Chief Deluxe, and that was my first radio as well. It's sad
lots of people don't remember WRL now. Thanks for the memory.

Lots of (most?) current hams weren't... when we were. They have nothing to
remember.

Default Leo Meyerson, W0GFQ, on the Today Show (was Leo Meyerson, W0GFQ 100th Birthday)

Thanks to Bill McCollum, KEØXQ, Section OO Coordinator, for providing
this information.

Leo Meyerson, WØGFQ, of World Radio Laboratories fame will be featured
on the March 9 edition of Willard Scott's segment of the Today Show.

Allen Pits, W1AGP, ARRL Public Information Officer, writes, " How good
it will be to see one of Amateur Radio's living legends honored by
national TV on NBC's The Today Show during portion of show where
Willard Scott features centenarians & highlights of their lives.
That's Wednesday morning, March 9."

Reading just the subject line made me wonder if Dave Garroway will be the
host.
