I've got a little HT that I keep around (Wouxun KG-UVD1P, junk but
useful) that seemed to have a bad battery. It suddenly ran out of gas almost immediately after a charge. Batteries being extremely cheap I picked another one up and it acted the same way. I finally found some time to get them up on the bench and found that neither pack is bad. Nominal 7.4 volt packs they usually meter just a tick over 8 volts when fully charged yet the radio, which displays the voltage on startup, reads a full pack at nearly a volt less. Both packs are 7.4 v lithium-ion, one at 1300 mAh and one at 1700. Anyone have any experience with a radio acting this way and any idea on how to fix it? Or am I stuck trying to find some place to service it? Jon Dayotn KC2PNF |

one Bad cell in each pack makes the world of difference and i suspect that's
