I am looking to buy a couple of CB radios to use in Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. I am unsure of the legal standing of this type of thing in these countries and I am having trouble finding information. If anyone would be able to point me in the right direction that would be great. I am a licensed amateur radio operator in Australia, but none of the people I am traveling with are. As such, my preference is to stay away from amateur bands so that I can talk with my friends without them needing to get licensed. After 5 yrs of putting down amateur radio, Im looking to get back into it again and Im pretty intrigued with the new kid on the block, Baofeng. Full-featured & durable radios on the cheap? Sign me up! Im hearing loud and clear that the UV-5R is *the* standard-issue, must-have Baofeng HT. However, I heard that they just released a new model, the UV-5X. Wow, talk about one sweet design: http://www.amazon.com/Function-136-1...&keywords=uv5x Anyone out there pick this hunk of hotness up yet? How does it compare to the 5R or the 5B? Does the volume go all the way to 0? Any improvements on the firmware? submitted by mcnelsn [link] [22 comments] |
