Was that "Lucky 7" from out of Syracuse? I remember a local news report on
my Milwaukee TV station about it. The operator would appear on the screen
wearing a gas mask.

Many pirates are radio amateurs - they have the knowledge and skill to

put
together a station. :-)

We did that back in college back in the 1970's. One of us bought a
homebrew transmitter,
did some repairs to clean it up some, threw together some turntables and
a crude mixer
board, used a mic from a cassette recorder, and went on the air Friday
night. We knew that
the nearest FCC office was about 150 miles away, and was closed for the
weekend.
We played records mostly. Some jocks from a local licensed station
found us, and
did a few shifts of our air time! (Guess they wanted the opportunity to
play their own
selections instead of a mandated playlist). I commented on our crude
equipment, and they
said that they had seen worse at licensed stations. We shut down Sunday
night and
dismantled the setup.

Later on someone else at our college did a pirate TV station! That made
the New York
Times! This was when the VCR was first comming out on the market. It

was
said that someone built that transmitter out of an old guitar amp.
Sounds ludercutis,
but if it was a tube amp, could actually be done. Use the VCR's channel
modulator
as the exciter, and that feeds the "guitar" amp.

Poor baby. You don't come close to any civil debate yet you
DEMAND others do so.

I didn't "demand" anything, Lennie.

I point out that you make it a point of harrassing others about
it, yet indulge yourself in the most childish and pathetic of efforts
to see who can out-insult the other.

You insist on referring to yourself as a "professional", but you
have yet to prove yourself "professional" in ANY discipline.

You REALLY need some mental therapy on being able to
get along with anyone else.

Uh huh. Coming from you, I rate this about 136 on a scale of 1
to 10 on important things to do.

Bet it irks the heck out of you that not one but TWO of your
former screen names has been acquired by someone who thinks you are an
idiot too.

It's the "copycat killer" syndrome...those are trying to make a "name"
for themselves but hiding behind pseudonyms, afraid to give their
real identity.

Uh huh...(Geeze this idiot makes this easy...) Just like YOU
tried to hide behind "Avery Fine" and "Avery Fineman" until your ego
got the better of you one day and you signed your name to a post that
you had specifically denied BEING you.

Sheesh.

Tsk, tsk, tsk...not even amateur civil debate from pSycho pSteve.

I wasn't the one making the claim, Lennie...you are.

pStevie, you REALLY need some mental therapy.

As I was saying...Get Mamma Lennie's correspondence books out and
try again, Lennie

Yes, you do. You have a long history of it, even on the public record
of four years ago at the FCC.

I point out that you make it a point of harrassing others about
it, yet indulge yourself in the most childish and pathetic of efforts

Actually you yourself meet "childish and pathetic of efforts" and
cannot stop trying to insult me in posts clearly not including you.

have yet to prove yourself "professional" in ANY discipline.

Several corporations, the US government, three state governments
all disagree with you. :-)

Psychotics will never admit they are crazy. shrug

The AOL screen name of "Avery Fineman" is still registered to me.

I have, currently, six other screen names at AOL (including this one)
but "Avery Fine" was NOT one of them. Never.

Yes, I've used the screen name of "Avery Fineman" in here and also
identified myself at the end of the post.

Apparently some in here are terribly uptight and can see no humor in
the pseudonym of "a very fine man" that lacks two spaces. :-) I used
that pseudonym first about 1992 on a Bulletin Board System as
Co-Sysop. "Len Over 21" came from the pseudonym used on the BBS
US Pompeii a year later (run and sysoped by Stan and Zippy Manus in
the Hollywood Hills). It is word play based on the BBS software...takes
too long to explain to anal-retentive control freaks. :-)

I can't "prove" who "Avery Fine" is...but both you and Reverend Jim
are prolific posters from AOL. Coincidence? :-)

So despite all the facts to the contrary, you cling to this
fairy tale belief there are still mythical "monitoring" stations?
First of all you need to realize that as a no code tech, you
really have no idea what is going on. Do you have a
grip on reality? No, I did not think so. Now run along
and go back to your CB friends, or better yet take all your
ravings to 14313, like hams do. You are a very strange
lad indeed!

Tell ya what, Mr. Ken, or whatever you call yourself, you deluded chicken
bander, go up on this "6980" KHZ or whatever frequency you choose and start
yelling "AUUUUDDIIIIOOOOOOOOOOOOO", or "Worldwide, worldwide", whatever and
just see if there are no monitoring station(s). They ARE controlled
romotely from Laurel/Columbia, MD. You'll eventually get caught
