Steve, you obviously didn't notice that the people Larry nominated are those he most often targets with his code debate ramblings. By mentioning those people here, his ultimate goal was to bring that debate here. After all, the main reason he disagrees with those people, hence his nomination here, is their opposition to his position on code. Therefore, any response to his nomination of those people had to include something about the code debate. Well, Dwight, you can nominate Larry if you like! It's a free group, and this little bit of fun is open to anyone. Do you want to nominate him? Besides, we have all NCT's nominated already, so some others need nominated. - Mike KB3EIA - |

There's more there than you want to admit. Brian, we intend to have the debates *after* the nominations are closed. Do you have a nomination? We have to try to keep up with California. - Mike KB3EIA - |

(snip) We have to try to keep up with California. Have you noticed even the press has had a hard time keeping a straight face when talking about the California recall vote? First, we have a midget who insists he's the protest vote. Then, we have oversized guy who still can't say his name properly after living in the country for decades. And then we have a cross-dresser certain to bring a new sense of fashion consciousness to the job. And we can go on and on. This is turning out to be one of the wackiest elections I've ever seen. This is something no one wins. First we have a power grab by the Repub's who have figured out that in any election, it will be possible to get enough names on a petition to force a recall. I hope they realize they opend a Pandora's box, and for what? Governing a state that they were partially involved in making a major mess? They are so desperate to get someone in office, that they are trying to elect a Republican who is more like a Democrat than anything else. The Dems, instead of fielding a smart team in case the recalll comes, have put together a list of clowns that are a true embarassment to democracy, leaving the one serious contender with the election plan from hell, that is to vote for no recall, but vote for me in case there is. To think that the next Gov. there might be elected with only a few percent of the vote. Makes me proud I'm a registered Independent. I wonder if there is going to be a recall on the governer elected in the recall vote... if there is a recall.... - Mike KB3EIA - |

Dwight: As it happens, Ahnold Schwartzenegger may be the best choice to be the next Governor of Cally-Forney-Ah. While he does espouse some political idealogy more in line with liberals than most Republicans would care for, he doesn't see the answer to everything to be raising taxes and expanding government. All the "whacky" candidates are on the ballot simply to grab their 15 minutes; Ahnold (that's MISTER Schwartzenegger to you) actually has a good chance of being elected if Gov. Davis is, in fact, recalled. 73 de Larry, K3LT |

Dwight Stewart (W5NET) Dwight: Don't look now, but this ENTIRE newsgroup is a place where the code/no-code debate is on-topic, all day, 24/7/365. In each and every thread created, there can, and most likely will, be content related to the code test debate. BTW, I have no problem with the fact that there are people who oppose my position on code testing. What I do have a problem with are people like you who obviously can't handle any kind of disagreement, and want to get people like me to shut up so you can exist in a totally uncomplicated, unchallenged environment. If you don't like it, you know what to do, and watch out for that door! 73 de Larry, K3LT |

The special election in regards to recalling the Governor of the state of California has nothing whatsoever to do with amateur radio. If you are not a registered voter in California, then you have no cause to carry on as if you were nor have you any authority whatsoever on California politics. One of the accepted candidates for the ballot in the special election in California is a Grass Valley resident, Jim Weir. Jim Weir has posted in here a few times. Ask him if his candidacy has anything to do with amateur radio policy. LHA |

Read back over this newsgroup. During the last presidential election, several thousand messages were posted on that subject alone. In fact, just about every major event happening in the world recently has been discussed in this newsgroup at some point (and more than a few minor events). The California recall vote is certainly not going to be an exception to that. If you are not a registered voter in California, then you have no cause to carry on as if you were nor have you any authority whatsoever on California politics. Nonsense. What happens in this country, anywhere in this country, is of interest to any American. What happens in California, or any other state, has an impact on the rest of the nation. So, while it is true those outside the state don't vote in California, that clearly doesn't prevent them from commenting on the subject. Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/ |

Arnold seems to fit right into your concepts of conservatism - liberal on most issues with enough conservative rhetoric to make him the least objectionable candidate. If conservatives aren't willing to vote conservative, no wonder conservative issues are slowly losing ground in this country. Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/ |

Second, I have no problems with a simple disagreement, just a problem with those who don't know how to disagree in a civilized manner. You, Larry, either never knew how to disagree in a civilized manner or have lost sight of that ability. Dwight Stewart (W5NET) http://www.qsl.net/w5net/ |
