Hello Greg and welcome aboard ..you have entered an endeavor which is a
cross section of the population as a whole. This move will give you plenty
of stories to chuckle about in the years to come, some frustration and
increased knowledge not only about radio but of human nature. Do not rate
amateur radio or compare in any way to what you read on this or other
newsgroups. Just enjoy have fun ...and take people's remarks at face value.
You will find the sprit that ham radio has rises above all of this.
