This guy is a real piece of work. He has a Collins 30L-1 linear amp on
ebay. In the description he states: "The amplifier is in fully operational condition, the tubes all test good, I did replace one tube to obtain full rated output and made sure the tubes were neutralized." http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...tem=5745848993 I emailed him to ask just how this was accomplishes as triode tubes in grounded grid operation do not require any neturalization and there is no procedure in the 30L-1 manual to neturalize the amp. His reply was: "I was doing an FT-101 at the same time, yes I know you cannot neutralize a Linear.. my typo" Yea right. The guy throws in all kinds of hype about how he has owned and used something for years when it is something he recently purchased on ebay, how he has done complete alignments, ect., ect. ect. I doubt the guy even knows what doing an alignment is. "yes I know you cannot neutralize a Linear.." Wonder what he thinks is in the final stage of that FT-101 if it isn't a linear amp, and if you cannot neutralize a linear then why is he neutralizing the final linear amp in the FT-101? |
