You'll only be "stuck" if you don't get out and push a bit!

(UNSNIP)...so DXing is (mostly) out of my league.

You need to check around a bit! WAS and DXCC applies to VHF

also.
There's grid square hunting, the satellites, numerous VHF contests
that promote award hunting, etc.

There's sidebanding on VHF (more on 6 and 2 meters, but used

for
satellites, too.) Digipeaters, Echolink, etc etc etc.

There's more to Amateur Radio than 2 meter repeaters and HF DX!
(Contrary to the assertions of certain UNlicensed antagonists in

the
NG)

For Techs (and others) try six meters DX particularly during

sporadic E
"season" May, Jun, July (prime months) -- other months also.

Tis possible to work all states (including Alaska and Hawaii). East

coasters
may get the Caribbean and SA as well

With 100 Watts and a Mushcraft 1/2 wave vertical -- got all but 2

states in
a year (need KY and AR)

I might have been able to give you both this past week. About where
are you located?

Ah thanks for the try -- but lent my antenna out to a friend so he could
make new parts for his AR-6.

I'm in So Calif

But summer is sporadic E season for 6M-- so the best time would be May June
July
Will need double hop for KY
Maybe single hop for AR.

I did some work on 6 and 2 ssb when there were lots of active Techs,
but it seems a lot slower now that they've been chased away.

Who's "chased away" Techs from 6 and 2 meter SSB, Brian?

The idea doesn't make sense on several levels. First and foremost
is the fact that there's absolutely no evidence of anyone being chased
anywhere.

Secondly is that VHF contesters are no different than HF
contesters...They need those "casual" contesters or participants in
order to get thier scores up...No "motive" for them to chase anyone
away.

Thirdly, the manufacturers push VHF capable gear in order to make
more profits. What would be thier motive to "chase away" anyone?

Next is the ARRL and it's ancilliary branches such as ARES. They
need Tech in order to "flesh out" ARES and other programs. QST is ripe
with PRO-VHF operating...CQ Magazine even moreso with it's resurrection
of "CQ VHF" magazine.

So...Here we are again...Brian P Burke making yet another assinine
anti-Amateur Radio assertion absolutely unsubstantiated by even a
single paragraph of corroborating fact.

And he says I have some undefined "emotional" problems. Go
figure.

Hmmm last June on 6M, we had several double hop sporadic E openings and the
band was filled with signals from 50.125 to 50.300 with SSB signals -- lots
of CW below 50.125 as well. This was not contest time and virtually the
whole US was coming in.

On field day we had single hop to the North West -- made 50+ contacts.

Hey Brian...Where's your substantiation to your "Tech's being
chased away" claim...?!?!

Shall we just add that to your growing list of "Stupid Things
Brian P Burke Has Said On RRAP But Can't Prove" list...?!?!

I own no Tech's.

Go ask the anon e-mailer where all the Techs have gone.

Shall we just add that to your growing list of "Stupid Things

Obviously.

You also do not own a sense of pride or appreciation for the worth
of character. Otherwise you might try to own up to some of your
assertions with some substantiation of their validity.

Go ask the anon e-mailer where all the Techs have gone.

"Sorry Hans, MARS IS Amateur Radio." Hi, hi!

Back to the out-of-context, "this is all I have to throw at him"
stuff, eh, Brian...???

That's over a year old now...Yet YOU, on the other hand, continue
to add to your volumes of dumb assertions.

Still no answers, eh, Brian...???
