For those of us that haven't acquired a nice Morris coil winder yet.
Makita variable speed drill, a cam and a pulse counter and an arbor. This is a late 30's GE radio antenna coil. Apparently it had been hit by lightning somewhere back in the distant past. The shortwave section was ok, but the broadcast band section wash charcoal. ROughly 250 turns so wound a bit more and will trim back as needed to make it resonate with the tuning cap. Jeff |

First photo is a bunch of little 25mH chokes I needed for a project. I've since started using the plastic sewing machine bobbins for chokes like this. Second photo shows a couple of them in place. The next two photos are an IF xfmr I made for a homebrew rig. This was slow going and the set required THREE of them. I think they were 300+ turns of #30. -Bill .. |
