This is something of a collectible, as not many stereo FM/AM tuners were
made.

I remember hearing an FM/AM simulcast from WBAL-FM and WBAL ca. 1960, before
the FCC adopted the GE/Zenith multiplex system.

Yes, I still have a Clairtone console stereo that has a tuner with the AM-FM
stereo (AM being one of the channels) as a major featuer.

Still works, too. And from what I can tell, nothing has ever been done to
it.

Simulcast tuner. Those typically had really good AM sections, with a
narrow/wide switch for better selectivity/better fidelity.
