That's not native American wood the cabinet is made out of, and may very well be 20-30 years newer than the radio itself. Also, the front panel is plywood. It may very well be a super heterodyne. the two audio transformers to the right, I suspect the for variable caps in the middle tune the "IF" whatever that might be. The caps on the front panel are probably 2 RF and 1 LO tuning.
