The manual doesn't show a way to ENABLE tornado warnings.
It's a 12-259 SAME Weatheradio. Is it on by default to make sure people are warned? I've read the manual a dozen times and pressed programming buttons until my fingers hurt. PLEASE??? Help me, please??? Begging |

If you have the FIPS codes set per the manual then it will go off when a warning is issued. There is a special code that goes out with the warnings that allow radios properly equipped to show what type of warning it is. However, you do NOT set the radio to enable "tornado" or other specific warnings Howard |

Have you called or e-mailed the manufacturer? Certainly that's better than asking here every 3 days. Why did you feel the need to say the 2nd sentence? I'm looking for help from experienced users in this NG, what or who did I harm in posting this [2] times? |

However I can enable tornado 'watch' but not a tornado 'warning'. It simply is not an option. Am I to assume the radio is setup so that you cannot enable/disable the specific 'tornado warning'? Their are about 15 watches and warnings I can setup. |

Their are about 15 watches and warnings I can setup. First off - I'm hoping this is a different radio than your other one you posted many times about and none of anyone's help seemed to help. Secondly - READ THE INSTRUCTIONS. Maybe it points out the difference in any settings for Tornado Watches and Warnings - as may be available. Third, in weather terms - A "Watch" means conditions are "favorable" for such things and you should be keeping an eye to the sky and be prepared to take actions - should conditions worsen and a "Warning" be issued. it does not mean it "will" happen. A "Warning" means it is Imminent "or" Happening. If a "Warning" comes across - and you're in the path - it is too frigging late to be ****ing with a radio - you best be ducking for cover. Maybe they have the Watch/Warning incorporated together for a "Tornado" since they can be form so quick and violent - as opposed to say "River flooding" which can take some time depending on rain fall amounts and predictions there of. Not owning one - "I" can only assume - this "setting". It would make sense to do so. What is the model number and so on - I missed it - maybe I can read them for you and try to unscramble it for you. Short of that - do as Evan suggested - call the manufacturer - or E-Mail them. I'm sure they've got a web site with a "Contact Us" button. Just my 2 cents for what it is worth. |

More than twice. Subject: FIPS Code. Entering the right one? Why can't I receive alerts?? Subject: Does anyone here own this POS radio? Subject: How to ENABLE Tornado Warnings for my radio??? Subject: How to ENABLE Tornado Warnings for my radio???? What would you have me do? |

OK, Assuming - you're referring to the RADIO SHACK model - 12-259. I read the manual quickly - online - and unless I missed something - I seen no reference to a "specific" setting for toggling between the two for "Tornadoes". Here is a link to their Support Pages for this model. It includes a button for FAQ! http://support.radioshack.com/suppor...her/12-259.htm Hope this helps! |

It's a 12-259 SAME Weatheradio. And NOT the same as the Midland I posted about so much. I read the manual about 5-6 times and nearly ripped it apart. It was bought from radio shack. thnx |
