It is Wed, 12:13am EDT (0413z).
JSTARS "Wizard" is up with Northrop Grumman ground station "Terra 5" on 231.75 in test comms. Tonight, "Wizard" is the rear-end callsign for "Canoe 03," the E-8C that did some touch and goes at Patrick AFB earlier and said he would be back in a few hours. My photos show Canoe 03's "JS" tail markings, denoting the Melbourne IAP-based Northrop Grumman JSTARS operation, as opposed to Robins AFB GA-ANG 116ACW. "Wizard" is also IDing as "T-3," a callsign often used by the Melbourne-based JSTARS acft. The ground station "Terra 5" is producing a horrible horn sound every time it keys up to respond to "T-3." Incidentally, the callsign is not "Tango 3"; they pronounce it "Tee 3." T-1, T-2 and T-3 were the original three E-8s produced and were used for testing. T-3 is acft serial 90-0175. Comms between T-3 and Terra 5 are now discussing establishing a SCDL link between them; also discussing on-going Satcomms via freqs 266.05 and 301.055.
