http://forums.radioreference.com/wor...ml#post1606755 In most cases any audio recorded with a video utilizes the microphone built into the camera or another microphone under the control of the camera operator or his associates. The sound is already available to eavesdropping by the unaided human ear. Like a phone tap, a scanner uses a microphone owned or controlled by the organization/person operating the wireless transmitter. In most circumstances other people wouldn't be able to overhear the speech of dispatchers or mobile emergency personnel without the aid of agency owned electronic equipment. The issue will gradually become moot anyway as agencies transition to the use of cell phones, in car computer terminals and other encrypted radios Caution MUST be used wording laws/regulations concerning monitoring and recording people indoors. People and invited guests/customers deserve privacy in areas where they can be expected to bathe, change clothes or use toilets/urinals. Privacy regulations shouldn't protect persons in the act of abusing people or pets in their care or in the process of committing burglary or other access not authorized by those legally occupying the premises (including landlords who don't provide adequate prior notice). |
