Hello All,
Just contemplating combining audio from two sources into a stereo headset. The sources would be a handheld scanner and a small AM/FM Walkman. I presume some sort of mixer......? It would have to be portable and light. Intended use would be for monitoring aircraft frequencies while mowing a full size airstrip, and yet being able to listen to music to aleviate the boredom. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance. -- Tom |

Perfect for a scanner guy. Go to ratshack and look at the y adapters and such. They have one that takes 2 earphone plugs and outputs to one - you could slap on a gender changer and then plug the headphones into that. Probably a $15 or less investment to get all the parts and patch cables required. Should do the trick. -noob |

The adapter has two mono mini phono plugs (1/8") and sends them to separate channels to a stereo mini phono jack. The legs on the adapter are only about three inches long so a mono extension cable may be necessary for one leg. I use this system when I need to use headphones and listen to two radios continuously. I also use it when I want to record two channels with scanrec.exe. When I play back the recording I play back left and right separately. Frank |
