Was working in the garage this morning with the scanner on and heard a call to
the Milwaukee, WI Coast Guard from a 36ft sail boat that had run aground 1/2 mile from shore in only 5 feet of water and was being shaken pretty hard on the rocks. While a USCG power boat was enroute, they were instructed to put on their life vests, and see if they were taking on water. They weren't, eventually came off the rocks without incident, and all aboard were well. Made for nice listening though. Inital calls were on channel 16 (156.8mhz) and then onto channel 22 (?) (157.1mhz). I heard all this with my mobile setup about 8 miles from the action. John WB9UAI Milwaukee |
