At about noon today I was doing some searching. Happened to get a hit on
273.0000, appears to be a TOPCAT a/a freq. While there, they couldn’t believe their eyes, they had a MULLER (S-3) aircraft coming straight at them and miss the flight of three TOPCATs by only 100 feet. The TOPCAT pilot is a bit ticked off, then comes up on 267.5000 (SEALORD Control) telling SEALORD of the near miss. He asks SEALORD if they ever seen the aircraft on radar (couldn’t copy SEALORDS response). The TOPCAT pilot then informs SEALORD about the 100’ near miss and demands a telephone number for SEALORD. A few minutes later the TOPCAT pilot says “screw this guy I’ll call him from the ground” right on the SEALORD control freq for SEALORD to hear….. They then switch to 341.0000 and 273.0000. The SEALORD areas are off the FL & GA Atlantic coasts. Needless to say I’m sure some $$it will hit the fan when they land….I’ll take this over police/fire listening anyday….. You heard any more about it?
What's a MULLER S-3? one of those little transports they use to go to carriers? GeorgeF wrote: At about noon today I was doing some searching. ![]() "GeorgeF" wrote Carrier based yes, however they can do more than just a little cargo, they do drop bombs. In fact they do a lot of bombing at our local range about 25 miles West of me. Avon Park? Used ta go out there for training from MacDill; heard my first Warthog unload that big autocannon there - frigging amazing sound that is, especially at night, when it's dead quiet, and you don't have a _clue_ as to what's happening, hehehe. --- Outgoing mail is certified Virus Free. I believe its a S-3 which Bush was in that landed on the Carrier a few months ago. George http://www.MilAirComms.com YUP, Bush was in one. They have them setup three ways I think, passenger, AWAC and anti sub patrol. Are we flying a cap over America at this time?
If we are flying it on the west coast do you have the fregs? Are we flying AWACS and scrambling when needed? Burr |

Over the 4th of July weekend there were three evenings in a row where we
had CAP flights over Florida. Gotta keep MickyMouse safe, no joke as that's primary rason for CAP Flights here. Added was the Daytona Pepsi 400 NASCAR race and during the race the CAP flights extended their pattern inorder to have a birds eye view of the race from about 23,000'. I don't know what's happening on the West coast. However in the past I have received reports of CAP freqs for Westcoast areas. They can be found he http://www.milaircomms.com/uhf_cap.html As far as using AWACS that is a question I don't know the answer to. However my first thought would be that it would be ATC (Air Traffic Control) would see the first hint of trouble. ATC then would aleart NORAD. CAP flights are in direct radio comms with NORAD, here in the Southeast NORAD's callsign is OAKGROVE. NORAD would then either scrable jets or inform CAP mission jets already airborn to intercept the problem aircraft. This is what happened on 9/11 and would have worked only if we already had jets in the air. The problem was the US left down it guard and all our jets (which were armed) sitting on the ground. Kinda like getting caught with our pants down.... Some people say that CAP flights are a not needed, ware out pilots and equipment, and waste money. However I ask this question, isn't the job of the US military to product and defend the United States? Which would you rather have, Jets in the air as a first line of defense or John Asscroft putting more restrictions on US Citizens. Ok, off my soap box, George http://www.MilAirComms.com Ashcroft Keywords: bomb, pipe bomb, OBL, water plant, electric plant, white house, training camp, personal freedom - ops scratch that one!
