Default Great mobile scanner antenna - and cheap !

$19.75 at local farm implement store.

Magnetic mount cell phone antenna ... about 1 ft high with coil near the
bottom.

Without any mods to the antenna, it hears great on the weather band, I can hear
weather stations a full 75 miles away in Illinois when they aren't even audible
when my scanner is hooked up to the car FM antenna.

The coax plug needs to be changed to a BNC, but otherwise no mods needed.

Another GREAT antenna for mobile work is a 3ft stainless steel CB whip. I have
one that's a trunk lip mount. It needs to be modified by taking the base apart
and removing the capacitor and coil that tunes it for CB, but once that's done,
it works GREAT !

Just for ham or weather station listening, of course. ;^]
