There may be a ham or repair facility that might be able to correct whatever problem it has.... what can i do with the crysals? Sell them if you have no other use for them. can i get a new scanner that will acept these crystals? I haven't seen alot of scanner radios being made NOW that accept crystals, but there are a ton on the used market, that you could find. Garage sales as well as hamfests yield good results. If it is not worth repairing, then finding one this way might be worthwhile. Granted the old rock-based scanners aren't as fast and definitely limited on the amount of frequencies, but they typically have an awesome sound to them, and of course there is the "nostalgia" factor as well. I personally collect "rock-based" (crystal) scanners working or not. Let me know if you choose to not repair it, as I might be interested in it for parts.
