I've tried already. Pad repairs kits in past were a waste. What are your
ideas? There was a huge thread in a news group in past on pad repairs.. It
seems I wasn't the only one who had trouble and found some of those kits
useless. G.W.

had one since they first can out, still going today.
1 have to do this about once a year.

get a can of Nickle screening spray.
or a little bottle of heated rear window demister repair paint.

use that to put a 'blob' back on eack sponge key 'tit'
let it dry & away u go.

i find it a good idea to clean the opposing PCB pads with a little
isopropylyn (well that stuff!)
as well

The radio that you are talking about is the Pro95. It is identical to the
Pro93, except that the Pro93 only stores 300 frequencies in memory instead
of 1000.

The thing that you left out of your question is this: What sort of things
do you want to listen to? That info might help determine if this unit would
be a good fit for you.

I have a Pro93 and it has been perfect for my needs. It's a great little
radio. I mostly listen to the local police/fire stuff on an 800MHz trunked
system. I also have another local department on an 800 MHz traditional
radio. I've got the local airport control stuff in there, as well as a few
other things like FRS/GMRS walkie talkies and such... I've not used more
than about 50% of the 300 memory slots in my radio.

For $149, the Pro95 is an excellent deal. I think it lacks the Military
aircraft band, but I'm not 100% sure. I've never really been interested in
that so I've never looked to see for sure. I think I remember someone
saying something about MilAir coverage in here at one point though.

I received a PRO-95 last year for Christmas and I love it. The $149 price
for it right now at Radio Shack is a great deal. The only drawback to it is
the hard to understand manual. The best way to program it is using the free
Win95 software from developer Don Starr. You will need to get a cable for
it though which costs about $20. You can get a lot of help from the good
people at the site listed below. Links to the site where you can download
the free sofware is also on the site below.

PS: The free software is NOT ONLY for use in Windows 95 operating systems!

Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated. As to manuals, I find few
that do make sense or easy to read. I've come up with the practice of just
looking at the book long enough to get to know the use of each button, then
throwing the book in a drawer and playing with the radio. I do much better
that way. I've seen 2 meter hand held books that keep you floating back and
forth between like 3 pages to learn a function. SCREW THAT! Thanks again.
