Reportedly there is a discussion entitled "State Scanner Laws - Going
Too Far?" ongoing somewhere online. Anyone know where? ------------ PBS - NOW (TV show) - excessive secrecy in Washington DC - aired on 12 Dec 2003 on TV2 in Boston - government agencies are refusing to release any info on anything that is remotely tied to security ---------- CFLG list - news reports in Orlando Florida are excessively lame because they dont want to scare the tourists, and most viewers are low income entertainment industry workers - there are higher incomes and more media competition in the Miami area ---------- SoCalScan list - Orange County Sheriff scandal just broke on TV2 - high ranking PD officer had incident involving son pulled off CAD system so it would be hid from media - this was captured on a taped phone conversation (possibly an I-Call) - Orange County CA encrypts all PD comms ---------- DFWScan - discussion of role of videographers at emergency scenes, and public access to public safety radio comms ---------- ChicagoCARMA list (or is it CARMAchicago?) - discussuin of using list and ham freqs for incident notification - discussion of posting surveillance ops ---------- http://www.openness.org (not sure if it has been updated recently) ---------- All of these items are from December 2003 Peter S |
