Same here ref 9v battery. It eats them alive. When you start
hearing double beeps for no good reason thats the indicator to get a new battery in there. Make sure leave the AC switch on while your doing the battery replacement so you dont have to load up 200 chnls again. Anyone with a similar experience with the Pro-2004? Bill I had a 2004 once years ago. The memory back-up battery would last for a very long time. Bill Pretty sure the battery in mine has been there for at least 5 years, and the scanner has been unplugged for almost 6 months now. I've had the 2004 since they first came out and think I've only gone through 2 or 3 batteries in that time. I also have a pair of 2005s and they are each on their second battery. Dave |

That's pretty well my experience also. Sold the 2004 several years ago but still have a 2006 that I purchased new and batteries seem to last in them just about as long as they last on the shelf. RM~ PS, Thanks for reminding me, guess I'd better check the battery in my 06 and make sure it hasn't started to corrode. |

Bill I have the same problem with my Pro-2004. But I have a Pro-2006 and NEVER had to change the battery and I got the radio in 1992 or so.. I think there is a short in the radio (pro-2004) that is draining the battery.. Anyone have any idea's what might be wrong??? Fred Shabec (KB9ZYX) CARMA Webmaster http://www.carmachicago.com/ |

I believe I read something that Bill Cheek posted that it could be the
voltage regulator for the battery backup that will cause that, the regulator is near impossible to find though. Another thing you could check is the solder joints where the battery wires solder to the board, if they are cold soldered then they could be causing it to draw more power than it needs.
