Go to: http://sd.ic.gc.ca/engdoc/main.jsp Scroll down a couple of paragraphs to "Radio Frequency Search" and select the "Geographical Area" search. From here you will find all the licensed frequencies in your area. You probably need to use NFM. Another place to look is http://www.radioreference.com Cheers, Rob |

ok i found out my problem , i am useing a 800 mhz antennia on my roof for my
scanner , if i disconnect that and use the extendable one that came with my 785 it picks up all the stations 100 % now when i listen to a station i disconnect the factory antennia and hookup my 800 mhz one boom all i get is pure static i slapped on a splitter onto the scanner so i can connect 2 antennias it works with the factory on it but soon as i hookup the 800 mhz antennia boom i loose all signal and hear nothing but a hiss of static , any idea why it is killing the signalor how i can get around this to work ? It sounds like you might have a bad feed line or a short somewhere. What does an OHM meter read between the inside and outside of the coax or between the two antenna leads. Rob |

i have a multi meter here but i not sure what to set it to . Turn the dial to the 6 o clock position, from what I can see that should be the 200 Ohm mark in the Green. If you touch the leads together it will show 0.00, or no resistance for obvious reasons. If you leave the leads apart it will show infinity (not sure what that will look like. On some units it looks like --.-). Now, assuming your antenna is coax, carefully put the one lead on the centre post of the coax wire going to your antenna and the other lead on the outside connector portion. If you have 0 ohms and your sure that you are holding the leads right, then you have a short somewhere in your antenna or in the cable. When you say 800 Mhz antenna, are you saying that it is resonant at 800 Mhz or is it some sort of active antenna with a band pass filter on it? If it has a band pass filter only alowing 800 MHz through then it will never pick up your local FM stations! If it is just an antenna cut for 800 Mhz with no active components then it should still pick up your local FM stations without any problems. Rob |
