Default I have two questions

Hello,I'm new to the newsgroup here,but I am a scanner listener. I
actually have two questions. One,I have a 16 channel Uniden Bearcat 100xl
and was wondering what kinda of headphones should I buy for it. The earphone
jack is a 2.5 mm.

The next question, I saw on the amtrak website the prohibated items you
can't bring on the train, I assume that a scanner would be ok to bring if
you don't bring it out in plain view of the train crew and have something to
listen to it like an earphone/headphone. Any thoughts or help on my
questions?

Were scanners specifically prohibited? How about ham radios?

What scanner? It's just a radio...
Are radios and headphones forbidden items?

If ya can't solder, then go to the Shack or somewhere that sells a somewhat
decent array of items and pick up a Plug Converter. It is a bit more
cumbersome to deal with, but sure beats nothing at all!

Scanners are generally prohibited in Motor Vehicles in New York
(Amtrak does go there too). Wether this applies to a train is
something a lawyer would need to answer.
