He definitely said that he invented the internet.

As far as I can remember, the exact words spoken by Gore that I have recorded
on VHS tape from tv is "I invented the internet".

How is him saying "I invented the internet" him not saying "I invented the
internet"???

Oh neveer mind, I know. You'll just pull a Clinton like when he said "it
depends on what the definition of is is."

Okay, that might not be an exact quote of what Clinton said, but close enough.
And the other one is definitely an exact quote of what Gore said, as I have it
(or had it) on VHS somewhere.
