Default Is it digital or analog?

Would someone please post, or provide a link, to explain to a layman
the difference between the two? Websites found via Google don't
relate well to radio scanners.

Communication received from officials in Canada states analog scanners
are permitted however digital scanners may be subject to licensing.
Obviously I'd to know how to confirm which my Pro-60 is?

Go to www.radioreference.com. You'll find everything you ever wanted to know
about digital systems there.

And no, your (now) ancient Pro 60 is not digital, it's analog. The only
digital Rat Shack scanner is the Pro 96.

If your scanner is more than 6 months old and cost less than $500, it is not
capable of decoding digital signals.

I used to have a Pro 60, it is an analog scanner. When recieving
digital transmissions, it will only come out as noise.
