![]() well dan ......it's more involved than just offering stuff to the " so called " buffoons on usenet ....... and is still a good idea to do. first the person that bought the item with the buy-it-now ..... probably learned about it here on usenet. secondly why on earth would someone take a chance of buying it directly on a usenet offer when by using ebay would give the potential buyers information about the seller and buying through ebay will offer recourse if one has problems. the " feed back " ratings found on ebay give the buyer some idea of the quality of doing business ( or lack of ) with individual sellers ..... the feedback rating system and careful purchasing practice , on ebay , also gives the potential buyer / seller transactional leverage during the course of the deal. NONE of these protections are available through a straight usenet deal. people should NEVER buy from someone on usenet for those reasons. make them dump it on ebay or avoid doing business with them. lastly ..... people never seem to learn the simple and obvious practice of paying ( a low or bad feedback seller ) with a convenience store money order. a seller with a 100% perfect feedback of 150 is almost certainly not ever going to be a problem ...... but anyone can use convenience store money orders to pay , anytime one is concerned that the transaction might be questionable. anyone , anywhere , anytime can simply fill out the little refund stub that comes with a purchased ( convenience store ) money order ( and they doesn't even ask why ) and " presto " , in ten days or less your money is refunded ...no questions asked , no delays , no problems .. just instant refund. I also have discovered that they doesn't even bother to investigate the refunds under a few hundred dollars. sometimes I wish they would , to get back at thieving and scamming dirtbags that try to steal from people ...but they ( the convenience stores ) never do , it seems. either way the buyer is protected , unconditionally ........it doesn't get better than that. offering , or rather mentioning your ebay sale is a GOOD idea , here on usenet. your message gets to the targeted audience that you want , people on both sides of the transaction are happy for all the ebay protections that auction house offers. ( mainly the feedback system ) potential buyers , here , are generally happy to learn of your ( bargain ? ) ebay offer. always protect your " e " purchases , no matter the source by using convenience money orders when in doubt. ( paypal's refund system is laborious and works .. but sucks for ease and convenience ) be smart ...... look at the bigger picture ........ learn to make web purchases properly ....... k.......................... DO NOT WASTE TIME OFFERING GOOD, CLEAN, HARD TO FIND RADIOS ON USENET. GO RIGHT TO EBAY. I am finally convinced that the morons lurking on these groups have finally succeeded in ruining what was a good thing years ago. Dan It tells me that he is going to get a good price out of the radio since it is already at $200. Hell Dan, I would have bought it from you but I already shot my wad on radios for a month or so. -- ----------- Dwayne http://groups.yahoo.com/group/BC895/ The up and coming BC246T (Looks VERY Promising) http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Uniden_BC246T http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ScanFindlay/ |
