Default PC Software for BC796D

Been out of the scanner market for about 5 years.
Used to run Trunker and a few other things.

I am now looking at the BC796D.

My town has a Motorola APCO25 digital trunk for Public Safety,
a conventional 800MHz Motorola trunk, a few LTR trunks for
business and some conventional VHF for a few remaining
services.

I used to own a BC895XLT and found PC software support was dismal.
Don't want to do that again.

Is there any good software for the 786D to load frequencies
and also to run under PC control via a USB/Serial converter?
Any good freeware?
Any good repository of easily-loadable frequency files for the 796D?

Replies in rec.radio.scanner please.
