Anyone on the eastern seaboard of the United States should hear the
telementry from this high altitude balloon launch at 3 PM (1900Z) on Wednesday, September 29. The balloon is expected to rise above 108,000 feet within 90 minutes of the launch from Wallops Island, VA (Chespaeake Bay). Primary frequency is 433.8 mhz FM and secondary frequency is 147.45 mhz FM. A launch control net will be operating on 7.203 mhz LSB with backup on 7.255 mhz (ECARS net). Call sign for the Simsat 1B is N8PK/aeromobile. The telementry will consist of tones that change according to the atmospheric temperature as the balloon rises. Would be interesting to see posts from those who hear the balloon. Good luck. pcox K4AVO |
