Holy Toledo, Buddy! You must have spent a fortune on all that gear.
Wish I had one percent of that.

Hi Al,

I don't know if anyone has ever commented, but I really enjoy reading your
post. It brings back memories from my days in the US Air Force

Thank you,

.....and Bergstrom AFB and James Connolly AFB, was assigned to both of those.

Bet some folks are reading this and going "James Connolly AFB, where the
heck was that???"

Ah yes, the "good old days." Loring AFB, McCoy AFB, where did it all go?
Thanks loads for the kind comment, Tom.
Do you get to do any Mil Comms monitoring yourself?

Hey Al,

I spent 2 years at Lackland (it's not just for basic) and 3 years at RAF
Upper Heyford (before it closed).
I was in AMMO and had friends in Comm. that let me in Control. It was fun
listening to all the traffic. Back then, there was some traffic that
shouldn't be monitored. LOL

I have a PRO-95 and listen when I can. I haven't found any military
traffic locally so far, mostly commercial a/c. The closest base to me is
Grissom ARB and it's too far to get any regular traffic.

Thanks again,

I also spent 2 years there, as a Medical Photographer at Wilford Hall
Hospital.

But that was oh, about 36 years ago...

WOW...time flies...I was assigned there 24 years ago.

I got there in '81 and I worked at Medina Annex where the new airmen
shoot the M16 (modified to use a .22 round). Were you there before or
after that bunker blew up?

As Never anonymous Bud stated so eloquently:

I don't remember anything about an explosion, so probably before.

I fired Expert on the M16 twice while there.

I know they expanded the hospital not long after I left.

I believe it was in 1972 or maybe it was building 1972.

I got to fire a few different weapons while I was there.

It was a really nice hospital when I was there, comparable to the money
making hospitals in civi life.
