I have just started a new yahoo group called

" TRAFFIC-CAMS "

Currently there are at least 200 official websites with
realtime traffic-cam pictures (worldwide)

These websites are open and accesable to the public
some cities have more then 200 cameras !
some have real-time streaming video others have fast updated
streams of jpg's that change every second. some have just still pix

Some scanner/radio amateurs have now combined the pictures
of these traffic-cams with the sound of the local police
like i did for example on my website:

In the one from The Netherlands you will see 12 screens from traffic-cams in
The Netherlands,i have combined that with the sound of a scanner wich
receives the national highway police.
Normally when you go to the a website of a department of transportation
(DOT)
you get only one and many times not moving picture (still) at the time
i have used some html-code to make it moving (auto refreshing)

In the second one from USA California (Caltrans) you see realtime streaming
video from 6 traffic-cams around Sacramento i have combined that with the
sound
California Highway Patrol. (at the moment they have limited the viewing time
to 2 minutes : (

Anyway like this you get the impression of actually being in the
control-room (Traffic Information Center)

It's interesting and a good addition to your radio/scanner hobby

In this group we have now links to more than 160 different websites
with live traffic pictures from all over the world,nicely sorted by country
or type.

Also we will have other technical information about these systems
and how to implement(embed) them on your own website...
yes it is possible to have a moving picture of your local traffic-cam(s)
on your website...wich is not so difficult to do you only need
some simple javascripts,html,players...etc

You can also ask for help how to do this and i would appriciate
new links to traffic-cams that are not yet on the list
