HI ALL
looking for the highest gain scanner antenna
it will be 40 in the air here on MS GULF COAST
prefer a vertical as i don't have a rotator but will consider yagi type if
gain is exceptional over my ham antenna of 10.4 which i am using now
scanner is bc780xlt

Check out the NIL-JON Super M Base Antenna;

The ScanTenna is great too, but may not hold up in high winds.

60+ MPH winds are not a problem for the AntennaWarehouse Scantenna.
I've used a couple here in FL and have yet had any damage.

Granted the NilJon antennas are more sturdy and preform well but the
Scantenna does out perform the NilJon on everyband.

Actually about 2 years ago there was an improvement. The older ones had
used blue colored plastic pieces to hold the elements together. Over
time the thin plastic would get brittle and break. About 2 yrs ago they
started using a heavier/thicker plastic and also the elements were
slightly thicker. The you can tell the newer ones because the plastic
pieces are now black.

I have both the old version and new version, but even the old version
survived 60+MPH wind gusts from tropical storms. The new version
survived 100 MPH gusts from Hurricane Charley in 2004 with no damage. I
took it down during the two other hurricanes due to loose tree branches
and other loose flying debre.
