Default BC246T Concerns...

Hello All,

I just bought my aging father a BC246T so that he would be able to listen to
the city around him. I bought it for him for Christmas. My concern is that
I want to send it to him with remarks of "Don't open till Christmas" because
I am in the Navy and am scheduled to Deploy in 2 weeks. Now, I just spent
about 6 hours programming the scanner for Wichita KS. If the batteries
happen to die while in the box waiting, will the systems and groups be
deleted?? I say this because my POS Palm Pilot will delete all saved
material if the battery dies.

Thanks in advance

Eric F.

I doubt it, but just to be sure it works when he gets it just pop a couple
Throw away alkaline batteries in it. Just make sure you put the switch to
the right position, and let him know to read up on using the rechargeables
that come with it for after the throw away's die.
