You can receive the channels - just program them in. (Don't program
Motorola control channels unless you like listening to digital noise -
that's all you'll hear on those channels.)

But the scanner won't follow a particular talkgroup - you'll just hear
whatever is on whichever channel it stops on.

You can tap the discriminator at pin 9 of the discriminator chip,
IC-2, a MC3361BP. Then you can run a tracker program and control a
computer-controllable scanner to track trunked systems.

what is a descriminator?

The stage in the receiver that converts the frequency changes (FM)
into audio.

and are there any mods at all for this scanner?

Probably mods to unblock the 800 MHz cellphone range but, since analog
cellphone usage is pretty sparse, and you can't decode digital
cellphone signals (not aren't allowed to - you can't), those mods are
pretty useless.

So if i tap the descriminator chip then somehow hook it up to the
computer is there a program that will let me hear the trunked system?

There's a program (maybe more than one) that will provide serial port
signals to a scanner that can be computer controlled (only Uniden
scanners can be controlled that way at this point) to make it follow
the trunk groups. But it can be a cheap scanner - as long as it can
be computer controlled and it can cover the frequencies you want. It
doesn't even need a working keyboard or display, since you're not
going to be controlling it, and the computer can't press the keys or
read the display.
