Hi,

Just got a Radio Shack PRO-2054 scanner and have a few questions: (first
scanner)

I live in Suffolk County New York and my police use that new 800 mhz trunked
system.

I programmed the scanner to recieve the freqs posted but here is the
problem..

There are about 22 freqs that Suffolk uses for trunking. I receieve all of
them fine, but I only get bits of conversations or I have to follow 3 or so
conversations. I'm really only interested in the 3rd precinct in Suffolk
County. Is there a special way to program the scanner to receive only
certain precincts? Not all of of Suffolk County? Obviously I'm missing the
last programming step - the order of the trunk or something...Any help would
be appreciated..Thanks...Pete

Put in only talkgroup 52976, or lock out all other talkgroups. Then
run the bank in closed mode.

http://www.webdingers.com/scanner.html is the whole patrol bureau
(precincts, all 4 countywide groups, command band, etc.)

The Radio Shack PRO-2054 is not a TrunkTracker scanner. It is a low-end,
stripped down, analog scanner, that does cover the 800MHz band, but without
trunking. I don't even know what Radio Shack just introduced this scanner,
as it is seriously lacking in the feature department!

Take it back while you still can. For the same money, you can buy the
PRO-2052, that does trunking. Or for a little more, the PRO-2051, or
PRO-2055 (on sale).
