STS-121: Saturday pre-launch activities have begun
-------------------------------------------------- It is Sat, 7:34am EDT (1134z). Range Clearance activities have begun here in the NASA-KSC area, in preparation for the Space Shuttle STS-121 launch planned to take place at 2:38pm EDT (1838z) today. "USCG Range Control" has been up on 157.075 getting ops and position from various CG assets, including "CG Bear Cove" and "CG Vessel 438." "CG Station Canaveral" has been up on 157.175, in comms with CG Auxiliary vessels, incl "CG Vessel 2787" and CG Vessel 1747." He is also in comms with "CG Vessel 25442" on 157.15. And he is talking with "CG Cutter Kingfisher" and with "CG Vessel 301" on 157.075. In addition the Combat Air Patrol is active over KSC. Eglin AFB F-15s "ARROW 45" and "ARROW 46" as well as "Tanker 11" are up with Miami Ctr on 343.7; and they are engaged in air-air comms on 252.0. At the moment ARROW 46 is getting topped off by Tanker 11. Lastly "Search 01," one of the NASA UH-1H helos, has just departed Patrick AFB, switching from the tower freq 133.75 to Cape Control freq 133.8, to begin his mission over the Cape. As for HF comms, there have been test comms on the Solid Rocket Booster ships' freq 5711.
