I have just about drove myself crazy.....I consider my self pretty good at using my pc and the other programs on the pc that run my other scanners...BC796D/ BCT8/ AND PRO2052/ ....BUT I HAVE TW0 PRO95'S .....And I can not operate the WIN95 PROGRAM......I have the right cable ...20-289 ....from radio shack......and the pro95 manual does not go into detail on how to do it.......nor does the place where you down load the program? .....It seems ...self exsplanitory? But I click on down load from scanner .....and all I get is either timed out bla bla bla !! .....or unable to open port so and so !! ....I am fustrated !! Is there a site I can go to that will walk me thru this thing?? ....Or can some one help ...?? PLease.....I am going nuts !!! ....what am I doing wrong..........signed ...Old Sarge .

Yes, the 20-289 is the correct cable for Win95 and the PRO95 scanners.
It looks like the Win95 program does not see the cable. First: What version Windows are you using, XP or 98? Is the 20-289 cable plugged into a COM port, or into USB-COM adapter? Yep, it can be a bit tricky getting the COM port or USB to work right.
I had to fiddle with the settings a bit to get my USB to Serial to work right. There is a tab where you set the stuff...but I can't remember... I am at work...but I will check back here to see if you got more help and I can post how I have mine set... |

I am using a USB to Serial adaptor for a cable I bought long ago (not Radio Shack) Here are my Settings from the Configuration Tab-Serial Port Com Port 5 found that by looking in System (control Panel)for my USB Extra Write Time is checked RTS is not checked Readback is not checked Hope this helps........... |
