Default Buzzing noise on 9580 kHz

What's that buzzing noise I'm hearing on 9680 kHz? It's happening right
now, 4:45 p.m on the east coast of the US, or 2145 UTC. I'm in northern
Virginia, listening to a DX-398 using the whip. A search of RRS shows
that to be a Radio Australia frequency, but I don't know about this
time of day, local sunset.

Thanks. I think I'll head over to the 60 meter band.

Sounds like the freq. and station underneath (unrecognizable
obviously!) is being jammed.

Assuming you do mean 9580 and not 9680, it's probably Africa No. 1
from Gabon. They've been reported lately as having some sort of
transmitter problem that's giving them that noisy buzzy
signal...whether they're even aware of it (since it's been going on
all day for days on end) is another question.

Obviously, that was a typo on my part. By now, I've forgotten what the
frequency I meant to type was. I'll try again tomorrow at 2145 UTC.
Sorry.

Years ago, I used to listen to Africa No. 1 from time to time, though
it was on a 60 meter band frequency. It always came in loud and clear.

Thanks for the correction. 9580 kHz was the number I meant to type. I'm
listening to the buzzing noise now, 2:35 p.m. on the east coast of the
US, 1935 UTC.

No worries...you had 9580 in the subject line and 9680 in the message,
but I figured you were probably right the first time.

I had to be right sooner or later. 9580 is coming in loud and clear
right now, 9:00 p.m. on the east coast of the US, or 0200 UTC, on a
DX-398 using the whip. It is China Radio.
