Ok, so my 7415 post has prompted wavetrapper to mention geomagnetic
storm and Telamon's post below has also mentioned less than optimum band conditions. Is this a whorlwide condition?? So now I have to ask the question; 'Where do I find some information that relates the geomagnetical conditions to how well my radio is going to play?' I know that sucky is not the correct term to describe conditions so that maybe one of you old buzzard DXperts can point us newbies to a link to a primer on this propagation that will take some of the magic out. http://groups.google.com/group/rec.r...1f6fc4/?hl=en# regards, NEO |

Sorry If i have offended you Mr hjsjms. I am not normally a very
pleasant person - that is my way. If you are referring to the Old Buzzard comment it is actually a term of respect that Ham radio guys often use to describe those that have been around and know a lot about the subject. There are a few here that qualify for Old Buzzard status - and I respect them for their knowledge and their willingness to answer the most basic of questions that I pose. And also because for the most part their politics fall directly in line with my own, but I will refrain from that type of discussion as this is an apolitical newsgroup. If you are referring to something else then please be less cryptic and point it out for me. As far as you are concerned - Do you always answer an earnest question with sarcasm? I prefer not to get off on the wrong foot with others so I apologize again if I have offended you. And sorry for topposting as well. I know it really irks some people, but to tell the truth I don't really care a whole lot for people who can get so upset by such a silly thing. Now if you would like to follow the lead that Charlie has taken (thank you Charlie) and post a link that might be of assistance to SWL newbies like myself then I'm sure I and others would be thankfull for the kind gesture. kind regards, NEO wrote: N9NEO wrote: Ok, so my 7415 post has prompted wavetrapper to mention geomagnetic storm and Telamon's post below has also mentioned less than optimum band conditions. Assuming your screen name relates to a real amateur license I would
hope by now that you would have found resources for determining how long one would have to suck before the bands were projected to improve. Or at least to find resource that describes current band suckiness. N9NEO wrote: Sorry If i have offended you Mr hjsjms. I am not normally a very pleasant person - that is my way.
