I bought this from Liypn as I bought a Degen 1103 from her awhile ago
(which also needs replacing but I don't think that's her fault) Basically this radio crashes...from what she said is that if it doesn't turn on it means it's in a constantly loop software wise. First she says to reset it (which I have on many a time) then she said if it doesn't work to take out any powersource (AC or battery) and then to wait 24 hours...reset it and put the batteries in it. That worked before but then it crashed again. When the radio works it's fantastic. I bought to replace a Grundig S350 (which is also great however has way too much drift and the wide switch doesn't seem to work..i.e. I only get narrow...so if it drifts and the wide function doesn't work it's frustrating) In terms of what causes this for the Redsun is I thought I heard something about a static charge...if this is true then this doesn't take much! Any help would be greatfully appreciated. |

I wouldn't want to ship it back as I would have to pay $30 for shipping
both ways.... There was no sleep timer on and it didn't come with a manual. I've found one online but it didn't get that technical for troubleshooting. |

It works for radios sometimes. 73 NEO |

Like I wrote elsewhere, the keys are a bit stubborn on this set - they
apparently lack some kind of force distribution underneath to ensure that the whole area works equally well. The actual switches are not always exactly where you expect them, so hitting the right spot helps. Don't give up if things don't work the first time, just try again and push a bit more and longer - hold the set on the back if necessary. (If I only push power on my TRA-2350P/RP2000 briefly, nothing will happen either. Apply some more pressure, and the set comes to life.) Admittedly it's an annoyance that shouldn't be there out of the beta phase, and it bugs me the most on the tuning step keys which can take a number of tries to finally react. In any case I have not needed to use the reset a single time (like it should be). My set didn't even get cunf00sed when the total battery voltage dropped to 0.9 V, though the clock was off afterwards... Why the light tends to come back on when I remove AC power is another matter, that's probably a simple bug. If the microprocessor should really lock up, I would blame some kind of production error (a bad solder joint might do). In this case the rx would need to be returned. Adjusting the Sleep Time Press the POWER / SLEEP button (8) once, the LCD panel will display the "60" and the signs, representing that the radio will be turned off in 60 minutes time. If you wish to change the sleep time, press the POWER / SLEEP button (8) again before it disappears, the figures on the LCD panel will change as follows: 90 - 60 - 45 - 30 - 15 - 5 - 1 - on - (back to 90) If you stop at 30, the radio will be turned off automatically within 30 minutes. If you stop at "on", the radio will be turned on until further manual intervention, the will not appear on the LCD panel. **** If your radio is "crashing" (shutting off after a time) this is what's going on. Keep us posted. It really is a nice unit. I got two, I liked it so much. Rich |

Nothing happens in pressing power...infact I've pressed it to the point
of it being tilted a bit. I'm starting to think that there's a problem with the design with the way the weight is distributed on the buttons. On the Degen I had there was a gradual wearing down (and dirt or something else) that got on the knob so when you turned it it didn't fully correspond (so it went up sometimes when you went down and vice versa) has anyone taken these things apart? I thought I saw some pictures of this apart... |

OK I know this sounds odd so I sort of dropped it/ hit it a few times.
Well now it kinda works... Audio is fine and I can tune things...but the bottons on the side don't work, I can't turn it off.... Ok I just reset it and now it won't turn on again! I think I'm going to just take out the batteries and let it sit till maybe 8pm tomorrow |
