Default What will happen if I use a regular, AM loop antenna with the 7600GR?

Hi.
A regular, unamplified, AM loop antenna came with my Sangean HDR-1
radio. What will happen if I insert this antenna into the 7600GR AM
antenna jack? Sony says not to use anything but its own recommended AM
antennas. Will I damage my 7600 GR if I experiment with this loop
antenna?

Any name brand or off the wall name brand of batteries will work just as
good as Sony batteries.Sony is only putting in an ad there for Sony name
brand batteries. If you buy enough batteries from whatever battery
manufacturer, you too can have your name on the batteries.

Hello

What kind of connector does this antenna have ???

Remember that Sony 7600GR has a "hot" antenna plug (i.e. some current is
provided to remotely switch on Sony antennas like Sony AN-LP1).

If you consider connecting the antenna with the 7600GR's antenna socket,
perhaps you check first wether the radio will support a shortcut between
the tip and the sleeve.

That being said, I have a recent Sony SW100 radio with the same kind of
"hot" antenna socket, and I plugged-in successfully a home-made antenna
that is short-cutting tip and sleeve... Some older SW100 radio are said
not to support such things anyway....

So if your radio is not-so-old, it might work.

Thanks for the help amd replies, everyone. Anyway I plugged in the
antenna and all AM reception completely disappeared! I unplugged it
and the otherwise excellent 7600GR AM reception returned.

You'll get a lot more stations, than with your loser HD radio.
