I swear my HD/IBOC receiver uses a Sync Detector while tuning AM MW BCB.
Does anyone concur or know HD receiver design characteristics? |

IF DSP seems pretty much a necessity for AM IBOC, and at least pseudosynch detection appears to be fairly standard with DSP rigs. (Whatever "pseudosynchronous" means exactly in this context. There are quite a number of fairly different "synchronous detectors" to begin with, and e.g. the Sony CXA1376 internal one and the AR7030's are hardly comparable IMO, save for the fact that a product detector is involved.) Another ironic footnote: It seems that RDS support is standard in FM IBOC receivers, while otherwise it is not that common among receivers sold outside Europe. BTW, those who are already using DReaM for DRM decoding should try the USB/LSB modes. Well, besides roof-top mounted dipole antennas, and loop-antennas, your ****ing HD Radio needs something to pull in and stabilze those crappy repetitive HD signals. |

Missed your appointment with your ANALyst again? "In-Stat: Digital Radio Set to Take Off" "In 2006, 73 percent of respondents to an In-Stat U.S. consumer survey were aware of HD Radio on some level." http://beradio.com/eyeoniboc/instat-digital-radio-set/ "Sirius, XM, and HD: Consumer interest reality check" (Alexaholic) "While interest in satellite radio is diminishing, interest in HD shows no signs of a pulse." http://www.hear2.com/2007/02/sirius_....html#comments This just confirms, the lack of interest for HD Radio, on Google Trends: http://www.google.com/trends?q=%22hd... =all&date=all For now, HD Radio/IBOC is dead. |
