Actually, There's something strange about that auction. As I recall,
the Sony ICF-2010 was double boxed from the factory. Wasn't there a
plane cardboard outer carton over the more colorful box?

first hit the market (serial number 88613) says $317.87.

Yes, there was. I've never seen a "plastic wrap" around the Sony 2010 box.
Anybody could "re-wrap" it with anything they want and some fool would
believe them. But of course, e-bay sellers would never lie, would they?
