In the DRDB's 5-year forecast in 2004 they forecast that there would
be 5.2m sales in 2008 taking cumulative sales to 13.15m. In the DRDB's 5-year forecast that came out last week they're forecasting that they will sell only 2.6m receivers in 2008, and the cumulative sales they're forecasting will be just 9.16m. So the current forecast annual sales for 2008 are 50% below previous forecasts, and the cumulative sales are 30% below previous forecasts!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Fifty bloody percent! That's amazing. They're waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay behind target, and they'll never get FM switched off at the rate they're going. They also provided a graph in the 5-year forecast of the cumulative sales in the 2004 document, but now all they'll provide is a graph of "DAB household penetration" for the next 5 years - basically because cumulative sales have fallen so massively behind target they don't want anybody to see how massively wrong their original forecasts were. For example, they were predicting cumulative sales of 22m by the end of 2009 - not bleeding likely when sales next year will only be 2.6m and cumulative sales will be 9.16m. They're having a giraffe! Un fking lucky. Serves them right due to the disgraceful way they've acted with regards to DAB+ and every other bleeding thing they've done since the whole DAB debacle began. -- Steve - www.digitalradiotech.co.uk - Digital Radio News & Info |
