for "Receive Only" Shortwave Radio Listening (SWL) use :
That would be a : YES.

Dave -fwiw- the RF-Systems Magnetic Longwire Balun (MLB)
is made by RF-Systems [NL] "The Netherlands" a Member
of the EU and a Memeber of NATO too.

to a Constitutional Monarchy which is far from being

RF Systems Magnetic Longwire Balun (MLB)

In general I would agree with Dave; that for it relative High Cost
of around US$75 the RF Systems Magnetic Longwire Balun (MLB)
is overpriced in the Market Place for a "Receive Only" Matching
Transfromer for Shortwave Radio Listening (SWL).
http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/1484.html

The Par Electronics End-Fed Short Wave Antenna (EF-SWL)
sells for US$10 less and you get both the "Receive Only"
Matching and the 45 Foot AWG # 14 Flex-Weave Antenna
Wire made of 168 Strands of # 36 Gauge woven Copper
Wire with a Black Polyethylene Coating @ US$65.
http://www.grove-ent.com/ANT8.html
http://www.universal-radio.com/catalog/sw_ant/2205.html

The WinRadio LWA-0130 Long Wire Antenna Adapter is also
a "Receive Only" Matching Transfromer for Shortwave Radio
Listening (SWL) and sells for US$40 {US$35 Savings }
http://www.grove-ent.com/WR0130.html
With that Savings you could buy your Coax Cable and Wire
Antenna Element.

This eBay Seller "NW Antennas" in Canada makes a 40 Foot
long Single Wire End-Fed Antenna coupled to a Dual-Core
Matching Transformer for a Buy-it-Now Price of US$39 plus
S&H of US$16 = Total US$55 and that is a US$20 Savings.
http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQitemZ260215175497
http://myworld.ebay.com/nwantennas/
With that Savings you could buy your Coax Cable.

Another eBay Seller "Low-Bander" in the USA makes an
80 Foot long "Super Longwire All Band Shortwave Antenna
that comes with a 9:1 Balun {Matching Transformer} plus
50 Feet of Coax Cable with a PL-259 Plug to connect to
your Radio for a Buy-it-Now Price of US$33 plus S&H of
US$10 = Total US$43 and that is a US$32 Savings.
It is a 'complete' Shortwave Antenna System All-in-One !
http://cgi.ebay.com/_W0QQitemZ180218553370
http://myworld.ebay.com/lowbander/
All you have to do is Rig-It and just add a Ground Rod
and Ground Wire.

CAUTION -Safety Note- All Outside Wire Shortwave Radio
Listening (SWL) Antennas that are 'connected' to your
Radios, Receivers and Radio Shack Equipment should be
well {earthen} Grounded* either at the Antenna; somewhere
along the Feed-in-Line; or in the Radio Shack.

I got one. Works great! Installed easily.

the Ten-Tec RX340 is over priced too, but I would still like to have one.

When the RF Systems MLB first came out some years ago, a mate of mine
bought one.
I couldn't wait to test it against the homebrew matching transformers
(9:1) that a ham had made for me. I and a couple of other lads did
comprehensive testing between the homebrew MLB's and the fancy
expensive RF Systems one.

We could hardly tell any difference between our el cheapo's (about $5)
and the RF systems, with a bit of a bias towards ours being better.

If you are the least bit handy roll your own.
