I see changes on the horizon for radio, while many like you and in the
industry and in denial. Free over air TV is still alive but many viewers no longer rely on a stick on their roof to receive programming. Free radio will live on.. but how we receive content will change! In a time when talent is being scaled down in favor of voice tracking is a huge mistake. It's an exciting time for radio, but the industry must invest in it's future and groom new talent for the challenges ahead. If the industry refuses to invest in it's future, choosing short term profits the industry will be doomed, The trends are alarming! Total listeners are trending down, but slowly thankfully! Revenues that keeps radio free over air have been flat for a few years.. And for the past year have been trending down! Google & the internet are changing everything faster than anyone could have predicted. Point and click gives advertisers reach and measurable accountability. The industries biggest category auto, has been shifting more dollars to the internet instead of radio. because they've lost confidence is radio to deliver results. Mass media is dying.. including radio & TV.. |
