Well, here's an idea...

...if you want to transmit, get a ham license first.

Hello Billy ! I was a ham over 40 years ago but I let my license
lapse because was engaged in other projects, But now I am
over 73 years old and would like to just listen to the ham bands,
I can receive and transmit in CW and was trained in the Army as
a high speed radio operator and later as a communications
specialist. But I do have a Transceiver that I want to keep as
a backup in case of emergency. My call signs were K0RZD in
the U.S. and DL4KZ in Germany.
Does that answer your question ?

Sounds good...the only thing that wasn't clear in your original post was
you specifically asking for an antenna to receive AND *transmit*. Had
you said then that you just wanted to listen, I wouldn't have commented.

Don't let being 73 hold you back...getting a license is a LOT easier
than it was 40 years ago. NO CW required at all, just answering some
questions -- and they have all the questions AND answers posted on the
web for free. With your past ham background, it should be pretty easy
for you to get your ticket. Refer to RHF's post on the local clubs in
your area; they should be able to get you squared away.

Good luck! and 73...

What would it matter, dip****, whether he wished to transmit or not? Perhaps,
unknown to you,he intended to get a new license. But, it's none of your damn
business what he wants to do.

****in' dumbass.

Oh, sorry, I forgot...it's Friday night and you're drunk already.

And yes, it -is- the business of all of us if he wanted to bootleg, just
like it's the business of all of us if an old lady is getting mugged,
rather than saying "Leave it for the police".

Remember, try not to mix your pain pills and booze. You wouldn't want to
give your 'friends' here the pleasure of you accidentally offing
yourself. Try and keep that firewater under control, Chief.

O.K. Folks Please let this thread go, sorry I even asked, I bought
a vertical antenna and had it installed so I could listen in to
the ham bands and I never had the intention of transmitting
except for emergency.

Thanks for all the "Comments"

Ignore Billy boy. He is an idiot.
