True, but neither ADS, Orcad, Protel DXP, or PCAD run on that platform. The
cheaper under 1000 dollar programs might, but none of the heavy hitters.
Still, Linux is my favorite operating system. No bloatware with that
platform, no gigantic system requirement that Microsoft requires. Linux has
great potential.

Probably is. A simple google search for "linux electrical engineering"
gets lots of hits.

Really? That's like some little old lady spending her morning
squeezing tomatoes at her grocery store and then claiming she's
qualified to run Campbell Soup company. The resident idiot Frank
claims to have 9 computers and everybody knows he's a clueless moron
that likes to scream and yell.

As if you're qualified to know anything about computers, operating
systems, etc. eh career burger flipper.

Hint: How many computers you have has absolutely no relevance to your
knowledge of computers.

Hint, spend 20 years working with computers, operating systems, building
computers, and using various software and operating systems and one day
you will know as much as me. Up to this point, you're still a career
burger flipper.

In fact, probably several hours of the day outside of work. Perhaps
you're less than
capable using Vista or learning how not to crash a computer system would
be
educational for you.

Silly boy. You keep assuming Vista is crashing on me and I'm stumped
what to do about it as opposed to me reporting on Vista crashes and
offering solutions or just commenting on how dumb Microsoft is for
allowing X, Y or Z to happen. Apples and oranges.

Funny that you whine like a little bitch about Vista on here and then
claim to have all these so called suggestions. Whats damn hilarious about
it is that if you're so proficient with Vista, XP, and how to fix them you
would have a real job working at Microsoft, RedHat or somewhere else, not
living in your mommys attic.

By the way Half Bright, one day you might learn something other than
operating those little ****ty systems you claim to know so much about.
Meanwhile, XP, Vista and other stuff is actually used in businesses all
over the world. Can you say that about the average Linux system? Can you
say that IT professionals are going to Linux, Red Hat, or any of that
other stuff including Ubuntu.

By the way, someday you might grasp the fact that a lot of people here
including Frank and others here know more about computers than you would
ever wish to know. Just because you can put Ubuntu, Linux, or whatever
piece of crap you claim works so well on your computer, doesnt make you an
expert. When you can program computers, program systems, and actually
contribute to the knowledge base I might respect you. Until then, I
seriously doubt it.

By the way, I produce, mix, and organize audio for various purposes
including personal uses, audio, political purposes, and many other things.
Not only through the computer but counting a couple thousand worth of
studio equipment, mics, mixer, etc I know a bit more than some wet behind
the ears kid would know. I've been involved in radio for quite a number of
years both amateur radio, commercial radio, and audio production. Also
design web pages and work with software in business and computer realms.
Your comments strike me as of some insecure little boy hiding in his
mommas attic popping off about people. Someday when you grow up, you might
get the picture

Funny.

First, Frank is a bullsh!ter. Caught him more than one with outright wrong.
I wouldn't even doubt he has never run Vista. Totally a screwed up
backwards piece of work. The FUD mister probably owns MSFT and wonders why
it is going DOWN.

There are some that bitch about Vista, there others that are bitches to
Microsoft Vista.

Windows XP will be Gone in June 2008 ? - NOT !

MS Says - Windows XP Sales will Stop on 30 June 2008.

Note - Some Existing 'new' Old-Stock of Windows XP presently
in Retailers Inventory may be available until 2009 or longer.

MS Says - Technical Support [Service Pack Downloads] for
Window XP will be provided by Microsoft Corp until 2014.

OK - What is the Problem ?

Yeah -if- You buy a New Computer you will likely get stuck
with have Micorsoft's VISTA pre-installed -but- your Old PC
that is running Windows XP will have support for Five (5)
more years.

Hopefully within those Five (5) Years Microsoft will have
something better than VISTA as their latest super-dupper
OS : Plus you will have a lot of new Hardware to Want-to-Buy.

-ps- Five (5) Years is almost Two (2) Life Cycles in the ever
changing Softwave-and-Hardware Turn-Over-and-Upgrade
PC Users Dilemma.

and . . . that's the way i see it ~ RHF

My two cents,

I don't see the needs for customers to sign any petitions. It's
the product
provider's job to find out if their product is well accepted by
the market
or not. And it's their product so they have every right for
making the
decision. If they think Vista is so good, just terminate XP and
make
Windows 7 even more like Vista. Of course, it's also them who
have to take
the consequences of that decision. Life finds a way, so no need
to beg
anyone for keeping a product or not.

If you can remember back a few weeks, Steve Ballmer went on
record saying
that Microsoft would consider extending the life of Windows XP
if enough
people asked for it. Afterall, many people don't want to
upgrade to
Windows Vista because they are perfectly content with XP. The
problem was
there was no way to ask for it. Sure, you could sign one of the
many
online petitions, but Microsoft considers those "non-official
complaints"
and the rest of us simply consider them silly.

Well, word has been passed down to the tech support teams (and
then on to
Neowin) that they are to begin logging any calls that come in
for the sole
purpose of requesting an extension to the retail life of
Windows XP. The
calls will be logged and, if enough complaints are filed,
Microsoft will
consider giving XP some more time (no pinky promises, though).

If you wish to file an official petition yourself, you can
simply call the
Windows XP Home Edition support numbers for your country and
let the
operator know that you wish to file an official complaint.
Because we're
so nice and want to save you the trouble, here are the numbers
for a
majority of Neowin's visitors:

United States: (866) 234-6020
United Kingdom: 0870 60 10 100
Canada: (800) 936-8479

If your country isn't listed, you can visit the Microsoft
Support Site,
choose your country, choose Windows XP Home Edition as your
product and
then go to 'Contacts' for the appropriate support number.

I disagree with their methodology but will make the call.

Windows XP is fast, RELIABLE, and meets the needs of the vast
majority
of PC users

United States: (866) 234-6020
United Kingdom: 0870 60 10 100
Canada: (800) 936-8479

Save Windows XP- Hide quoted text -

- But the problem is that whatever Microsoft comes up with to
replace
Vista will be the same resource Hog Vista is now;
- with no substantial gain.

And you know this because...?

- Imagine how nice it would be to have a REALLY fast, reliable PC
that
ran on Some Future Iteration of hardware

I've got multiple installs of that OS right now...it's called Vista!

- but had Reliable, Familiar Windows XP as its OS

Why? Once you become familiar with Vista, then XP seems old, slow
and
clunky...just W2K did after we became familiar with XP.

down teh road.

Worth Saving Windows XP, in the opinion of over 200,000

Yeah right. You don't think for one second that 200,000 individuals
responded do you?
If so, lets talk about some very fine bridges I happens to know of
that
are for sale...LOL!
Also blogs are now becoming click-and-I-get-cash cows. Any

Frank

Frank knows all about delusional. It's his life.

Sure you do, Madeline

Most people fine it rather strange that the real malcontents in this ng
are the ones who can't get their installs of vista to run properly.
They blame MS and call those of us who have successfully, installed,
configure and run Vista properly, 'fanboys" as if that somehow properly
vilifies us makes their obvious computer incompetence some kind of an
aberration.
adam albright is the leader of that demented, delusional pact of idiot
moron losers.
And I am daily amazed that this piece of **** can't actually still type
on a keyboard with his fat, bald head shoved all the way up his fat
stupid ass!
Simply amazing!
Frank

We all know you are experienced at installing updates. It seems that
updates and service packs are a way of life with Windows.

Oh? As compared to the 180+ updates for urbuttoo? Or how about upgrading
to a whole new os every six months? Isn't that the "way of life' with
linux/urbuttoo, huh?
Did you come to this Vista ng to try and spread your lies like you have
been doing in the printer ng now for yrs?
Guess what asshole, I've got your number and you're #1 on my **** list!
Frank

The Ubuntu LTS versions are every other year. The intermediate versions
are for new users to play with 'til the next LTS version. There has never
been a "whole new os" as far as I can tell, just constant refinements
(usually hardware support as more and more vendors hop on-board) that are
almost always 100% backwards compatible.

Ubuntu 8.04 is an LTS and like butter.

Ubuntu sounds like a case of an African disease

We can add racist to your list of flaws.
