from the Christian Science Monitor and the AP), they're protecting
their
customers from child pornography.
Which means that they were too incompetent to run a text only server
with a binaries filter.

It's very likely that customers will find that nowhere in their
subscription
contract is access to a Usenet server actually promised... with most
ISPs
it's been a "free perk" for a long time (years) now.
There was a time when some ISPs provided shell accounts as well --
that's
been gone for years as well... although web hosting companies often
still
provide it.
