If I'm listening to a weak station with bassy audio...and that IS
a PITA to understand...That's when the PBS comes in real handy.
Tighten up the filters, and displace the passband toward one of the
sidebands. That lightens up the audio considerably. Sync generally
doesn't unlock, although that varies with the receiver.



I gotta tell ya...after years of playing with SW-2, this R8A is
an entirely different animal. And it does take some getting used to.
In the same way that moving from a V45 Magna to a Road King takes a
little getting used to.

And boy wouldn't THAT just suck.

I have tried with different headphones and the tone control fully
clockwise with no results. Maybe I would need a speaker that can put
out the highs, a Kenwood sp-31 or similar. I have read that audio
filter could solve the problem, Datong FL3 or a timewave device could
help.

Yes, I sent it to Drake R.L. in orderto have it aligned, checked
sensitivity and voltage levels........... and it works perfectly.

I will wait until next year since AOR it is going to release its
AR7070 DSP.

If you are using the internal speaker that's not a good way to DX weak
signals. The best way is to use headphones. Using the right bandwidth
filter for the conditions along with the passband offset control is very
important.

All my tabletop radios are either connected to a bookshelf speaker or I
use headphones. The internal speakers are almost never used.
